The Chief’s Diary: We Are Delivering on Technology and Communication
We were at the launch of the “africell business” strategy yesterday. Their plan is to deploy better digital, safer and secure solutions for citizens and businesses. Can you imagine satellite solutions for agriculture companies? Or better AI solutions for fraud detection and prevention? I am excited about this future.
Already, the government and partners have invested over $250m in infrastructure and digital services over the last few years. This is why we have about 95% cellular coverage, 98% 3G coverage on all sites and have doubled internet users. We have more fiber networks across the country and built redundancies too. Devices are cheaper and more available today than ever before.
But of course, as I did at an Orange-SL event yesterday, my message was clear- we want better quality and more affordable cellular and data services for our citizens. When this happens, citizens, especially the youth will create more. Together #WeAreDelivering.
