The Chief’s Diary: Construction of a State of the Art Ultramodern Conference and Hotel at Lungi Airport to Host ECOWAS.
Later this year, H.E President Bio and Sierra Leone will host the ECOWAS Heads of State and Government Summit for the first time since ECOWAS was established 50 years ago.
For this, we entered into a PPP/Joint Venture with Maximum Technical Services FZCO to establish a Conference Center with a capacity for 1,500 persons, 15 Presidential villas and a 115 bedroom Hilton Garden Inn Hotel all within 2 minutes walk from the airport terminal. After work today, I came to the site myself to monitor the ongoing works.
Our target is that this major infrastructure development will be opened in time for the ECOWAS conference at the end of June.
Our government has a focus on transforming Sierra Leone- that’s why President Bio’s Big Five Agenda includes Infrastructure. In addition to our new airport, these new facilities will make Sierra Leone a major investment and tourism hub.
What’s interesting is that we will go from being one of the most tough destinations (albeit unique to fly by plane, take a boat and drive in the same journey) to the easiest (fly and hop across). Together #WeAreDelivering.
