The Chief’s Diary: 1 Weekend, 2 days, 4 Districts
On Friday morning, I joined the Commit and Act Foundation, Deputy Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary, Bo District Council Chairman and Bo City Mayor to do a turning of the sod for a boarding home school for survivors of SGBV in Bo.
In the afternoon, we went to Pujehun where dozens of women led by the SLPP District Women’s Leader and the District Mammy Queen hosted a wonderful birthday cake cutting celebration in my honor. In Pujehun we had SLPP delegates and party executives visit from Kenema and Bo.
In the evening, we returned back to Bo where the business owner of Gallinas Paradise Hotel hosted another birthday party for me. This too was co-hosted by the Council Chairman and City Mayor. It was a true honor to spend the evening with these Bo District leaders. In Bo, we had SLPP delegates show up from Freetown.
Today, this Saturday, I engaged the Njala University Volunteers and youth groups from Kenema before departing for Tonkolili District. At Mile 91, I attended the 5th graduation ceremony of the prestigious Central University. I spoke to the students about being Dreamers, Makers and Servants. We must all paint big dreams and take actions that make those possible in service of ourselves, our communities and our country. In Mile 91, we had dozens of SLPP party leaders and delegates from Kono, Moyamba, and Bo.
I drove back to Freetown in the evening to attend parts of the wedding celebrations of one of my favorite mentees- Akie Njauja (started at DSTI and now a leader at the Ministry of Communication, Technology and Innovation).
In Pujehun, Bo and Tonkolili, we spent time with traditional leaders, local actors and community leaders. They thanked President Bio for the Bo-Pujehun road and the Mile 91- Magburaka road among many. We also energized our SLPP base. My confidence is firm that indeed, through the SLPP, we will continue to deliver for our people.
Sunday, they say is a day of rest- let’s see how it goes tomorrow.
